Hey, I'm Carl.

I'm a web applications engineer living in Tacoma, Washington. I grew up in Baguio City in the Philippines - the one city over there where you actually need a jacket - so when people warned me about the rain up here, I just shrugged.

In between there were three years in Sydney. Great run, too much sun. Turns out I'd rather have fog and pine trees than a beach.

I've been building for the web for over a decade - web apps, e-commerce, a lot of PHP and JavaScript. This site is where I sell the tools I've built and write up whatever I had to figure out the hard way, so you don't have to.

The other half of my life happens at the gym. Most mornings I'm under a barbell before I'm behind a keyboard. I know the stereotype - developer, chair, coffee, takeout - and I've been that guy. But lifting taught me more about software than most books have: show up when you don't feel like it, add a little weight at a time, and don't expect week one to look like week fifty. Works on a barbell. Works on a codebase.

Sleep, train, build, repeat - and try not to take the barbell or the codebase too seriously.
